SpectraSoul were the drum and bass partnership of David Kennett and Jack Stevens. Across fourteen years together, they developed a catalogue that moved between soulful songs, restrained club tracks, and darker material, rather than staying within one fixed style.
Their album work included releases through Shogun Audio, followed by a more independent phase with their own Ish Chat Music imprint. The third album, How We Live, appeared there in October 2017, bringing vocal collaborations and instrumental production into the same collection.
Running their own label gave them more control over how and when music reached listeners. They described that independence as a source of renewed motivation, alongside an interest in returning to the atmosphere of smaller clubs. Their aim was to make records with emotional substance that also worked on a dancefloor.
The duo announced their separation in October 2020. Stevens had already begun releasing solo music as Workforce, a project that became his continuing outlet. SpectraSoul's recordings belong to that completed partnership: the albums remain an entry point into their shared work, while later Workforce releases are a separate chapter.
