Behind the music
About flowanastasia.
flowanastasia is a Toronto-based vocalist, songwriter, and MC working in drum and bass and other electronic music. Born in Ukraine and raised in Canada, she studied classical piano for 12 years before developing a vocal practice informed by jazz and hip-hop. Her lyrics explore subjects including mental health and positivity.
Her collaborations cover several distinct parts of drum and bass. She has recorded dancefloor material with S.P.Y and Freaks & Geeks, neurofunk with Mefjus and Pythius, liquid with Telomic and GLXY, and deeper rollers with Nymfo and Waeys.
She works with engineer Tyr Kohout on her vocal recordings, and the pair also perform together as a live duo. Their festival appearances include Liquicity Festival, Rampage Open Air, Let It Roll, and Exit Festival. Alongside singing, she has developed her MCing and recorded in house and dubstep.
Her recorded work has appeared through labels including Liquicity, Metalheadz, Shogun Audio, Critical Music, and Viper Recordings. She adopted the name flowanastasia in 2021, having previously released music as Anastasia.
