Jesta is a rising force in the darker realms of drum and bass, known for his brooding atmospheres, razor-sharp percussion, and minimal yet weighty production style. Based in Canada, he has emerged as a key figure within the new wave of producers pushing the deeper, more experimental side of the genre. Drawing on the foundational aesthetics of labels like Metalheadz and Exit Records, his sound is stripped back but never sparse, evoking a constant sense of pressure and unease.
Closely affiliated with Toronto mainstay Gremlinz, Jesta has built his reputation through a series of standout collaborations and solo works that have found their way into the sets of many leading selectors. Releases on Metalheadz have cemented his status as a producer of considerable depth, particularly his work alongside Gremlinz, where their shared vision results in tracks that are rhythmically adventurous and atmospherically dense.
In addition to his work as a producer, Jesta has made waves on the DJ circuit with precision-mixed sets that blend cutting-edge minimalism with echoes of classic jungle and techstep. His contribution to the Sample Genie production platform further underscores his technical prowess and commitment to craft, offering insight into his refined, detail-oriented approach to sound design.
With an ear for texture and a focus on mood over melody, Jesta continues to contribute to the evolving narrative of modern drum and bass. His releases stand as examples of discipline and restraint, championing a sound that values space, tension, and sonic clarity.
