Behind the music
About Icicle.
Icicle is the recording name of Dutch producer Jeroen Snik, whose work connects drum and bass with techno and other bass music. He has also released techno as Cadans, keeping that project distinct before bringing the identities together on his later album work.
His third album, Post, was released through VISION in September 2022. Its twelve tracks drew on the electronic music and rave culture he had encountered in the 1990s, combining those references with his later production methods.
The record began before the pandemic and was completed after live events returned. Snik described missing the exchange between making a tune and seeing a crowd respond to it. Playing shows again helped him finish a project that had remained nearly complete for some time.
He presented Post as his final album. In interviews around its release, he explained that he was moving towards 3D animation and game design, and planning to step away from his music career. That context matters when exploring Icicle's catalogue: the album was conceived as a conclusion to a chapter, with its visual work also reflecting his changing creative interests.
