Jack Boston is a Welsh drum and bass producer and recording engineer whose career connects the Cardiff and Bristol scenes with his work at Rockfield Studios. He first released music as Boston, later adding his first name to make his productions and engineering credits easier to find. Symmetry Recordings became a central home for his drum and bass.
His relationship with the label began after meeting Break and Kyo at a production seminar in Bristol when he was about 18. Boston passed Kyo a CD of his music, beginning an association that includes Panoramic and The Place / Always There. He has also released darker material through Dispatch.
For The Place, he worked with singer Vanity Jay, while Always There features Madcap. Discussing the release in 2019, Boston explained how working at Rockfield had encouraged him to practise instruments and spend more time playing with musicians. Translating the ideas in his head into performances had become a more direct source of inspiration than relying entirely on samples or software instruments.
