Behind the music
About Jman.
Jman is a British MC and rapper whose work connects hip-hop, dub, reggae, and drum and bass. His route into music took him from London to Plymouth to study production, while hosting drum and bass and dubstep events helped establish his place in the wider rave scene.
His solo records include Auranography and Free Dank. He also formed Babylon Dead with producer Illinformed, creating another outlet for his writing alongside his own name.
With Jman & The Argonautz, he developed a different performance format. The project began with studio sessions in rural Devon with producer and drummer Weztax, before expanding into a band with bass, guitar, DJing, and additional vocals. Their album Therapy in Session was released through High Focus Records in 2023.
He also co-owns the dub and reggae label and soundsystem No Ice Cream Sound. His solo artist catalogue includes Dubplate SZN, Ice Cold, and 50 DUB.
