Kafra is a Marseille producer and DJ whose music connects reggae, ragga, hip-hop, and jungle. Also credited as David Migliaccio, he works with vocalists as well as making refixes, with releases through Marseille Zulu Alliance documenting several sides of that musical background.
The 2020 EP DJ Kafra Capture Metod MC brought him together with the singer and MC on six tracks recorded in Marseille and Toulon. Kafra composed four of the backing tracks, remixed Dr Bud’s music for another, and shared the music credit with Metod MC on Riot. He also mastered the release.
That division of work gives a clearer picture of the EP than calling every song a solo production. Metod MC’s vocals run through the record, while the different backing credits show Kafra composing, collaborating, and reworking material within the same project.
His refix of Carl Meeks and Johnny P’s Ram Dance Master provides a more direct jungle connection, with the publisher identifying its jungle approach. Further uploads on his own account keep reggae songs and faster breakbeat versions alongside one another, giving listeners a catalogue shaped by both the original voices and the rhythms he builds around them.
