Behind the music
About Kanine.
Kanine is a London drum and bass producer and DJ whose music sits between dancefloor and jump-up. He describes the combination in practical terms: a big musical idea and the lift of an anthem, with a heavier drop waiting on the other side.
Breaking through around 2018 and 2019, he developed that balance while building a relationship with UKF. His releases there included Feel The Vibration, and he has also worked with Friction on Your Love. Speaking to UKF in 2025, he described wanting to develop beyond production into songwriting and visual direction, including writing lyrics and directing the content around his music.
His Summer Essentials mixes offer another way into his taste. The series began with the memory of burning favourite songs onto CDs and making playlists for different situations. It became an annual chance to share the music he listens to away from the stage, including records that would not necessarily fit into one of his club sets.
His debut album, Reflections, arrived on UKF in October 2026. Across its 12 tracks, he worked with HEIGHTS on the title track, Raphaella on Deeper, and Jem Cooke on Surrender. Touchdown, with SOTA and Mila Falls, also appeared on the album. The record brought his vocal collaborations together with the heavier production that had first put his name into DJ sets.
