Mampi Swift is a British drum and bass DJ, producer, and the artist behind Charge Recordings. His catalogue is closely connected with the dancefloor, but his studio work also reflects time spent writing hip-hop and pop music outside the genre.
Victory Rose LP - Chapter One was released in December 2019. Its title honours his parents, Victor and Rose, and the record brings heavier bass-driven tracks together with more melodic and vocal material. Rather than reshaping every piece to fit the sound listeners already associated with him, Swift wanted room for both familiar and newer ideas.
Explaining the album to UKF, he recalled how work in the United States had changed his understanding of melody and arrangement. That experience helped him make tracks such as Victory, while the contrasting weight of One Finger gave longstanding listeners another way into the album. After years of changing plans, he selected its 20 tracks on 1 December and released them 26 days later. The story gives the record a more human context: it was a substantial body of work he finally chose to let listeners hear.
