Minor Rain is the alias of Slovak producer Jakub Šenšel, whose work ranges across drum and bass and other electronic forms. Producing since 2009, he has released on Renegade Hardware, Dispatch, Med School, and Bad Taste, with a catalogue that reflects a broader interest in electronic music rather than a single production formula.
In a 2014 interview with Kmag, Šenšel explained that drum and bass had been his route into electronic music, although Minor Rain began as a project outside the genre. His debut album, In The Depth Of My Soul, became a period of learning in production and mastering, and introduced him to new approaches within the autonomic sound.
Plasticity appeared on Med School’s New Blood 013 compilation in 2013, while Flux / Thunderbird followed on Addictive Behaviour in 2014. His later work for Bad Taste includes Humanoid / Trigger, released in 2020. Alongside producing across different styles, he has described his DJ sets as focused principally on drum and bass.
