Moleman makes drum and bass for getting lost in. The British producer, who introduces himself as Charlie, brings together detailed electronic production, spacious melodies, and influences that stretch from classical piano to video-game soundtracks. There is bass weight here, but a tune does not have to be a club weapon to earn its place.
He began releasing music in 2010 and founded Subsphere in the early 2010s. The label released artists including Feint, Keeno, and Fox Stevenson, then known as Stan SB. Running it gave Moleman a place in a community of melodic producers while he developed his own music, with pauses between releases rather than a constant stream of singles.
His second album, Implosions, arrived in March 2026 with support from Help Musicians’ Next Level Award. Its atmospheric and liquid drum and bass sits alongside other bass-music experiments. Moleman has cited David Wise’s music for Donkey Kong Country, Ravel, and Chopin among his inspirations, explaining why texture and melody matter as much to him as the drums.
He has also been candid about not performing live. These are records conceived in the studio, with the freedom to follow an idea wherever it leads.
