Shyun's solo releases document the groundwork for his later partnership with Cruk as Fade Black. Based in London during his emergence on Critical Music, he appeared on the label's 15 Years Of Underground Sonics project before releasing Systems 010 in October 2017.
That four-track release put several sides of his production together. Circles featured Charli Brix, while Sentry paired him with Cruk. The Beast EP followed in April 2018, with SOLAH appearing on Watch Your Step.
The collaboration with Cruk became a fuller statement on 2019's See It Our Way. Critical presented its five tracks as a combination of technical drum and bass and edited halftime, rather than a release confined to one rhythm or production style. After that EP, the pair combined their work under the Fade Black name.
