Submerged is a producer, DJ, and bassist whose work connects hard drum and bass with noise, breakcore, and experimental music. He founded Ohm Resistance in 1999, initially as a vinyl drum and bass label, and developed collaborations that reached well beyond that starting point.
Those projects include Method of Defiance with Bill Laswell and Toshinori Kondo, The Blood of Heroes with musicians including Justin Broadrick and End.user, and work with Buckethead as Death Cube K. On Distortion, he supplied the bassline for a collaboration with Scorn and Kool Keith.
His 2023 album FURY brought hard drum and bass back into focus while also making space for noise and extended composition. Speaking to Murder Channel, Submerged described returning to his hardware sampler for the drum and bass tracks and building music from recorded improvisations. He also explained that his connections to breakcore, speedcore, punk, and squat scenes gave him the freedom to make music beyond drum and bass’s rules.
