Behind the music
About Visages.
Visages are a Toulouse collective whose music moves between soulful drum and bass and heavier 140 productions. Formed by friends already involved in the city’s parties, the project brought Etienne, Valentin, Kévin, and Tom together, with their first releases arriving in 2018.
They had made music separately before deciding to find a shared sound. Alix Perez, Halogenix, and Ivy Lab’s drum and bass were early reference points, while their wider tastes took in French hip-hop, rock, reggae, and techno. Working as a group meant finding the ideas they could all get behind.
Their relationship with 1985 Music became an important part of that development. Collaborations with fellow Toulouse producer Monty include Ange / Démon, a 2023 single built around contrasting moods. Ange started with Valentin writing after losing a pet; Démon came from a later session experimenting with drill rhythms and bass.
By 2023, Etienne and Valentin handled most of the day-to-day production, with Tom and Kévin contributing around other work. Their debut album, Amor Fati, followed in 2025, bringing thirteen tracks together with guests including Chimpo, Monty, and Alix Perez. Its liquid songs and heavier bass productions continued the range they had developed together.
