Heist and Benny Co-Lab established Co-Lab Recordings in 2002, building a partnership which also produced Calypso Muzak, Liquid Lab, Pure Vibez, and Sumo Beatz. Co-Lab is the umbrella for those imprints, each with its own place within their drum and bass releases.
Heist’s contribution reaches beyond making tracks. He helps find music, masters recordings, and works on ideas and artwork, while crediting Benny with getting the releases out. Records such as One Part Jungle EP by Aries and Nicky Blackmarket sit within a catalogue shaped by that division of work.
After years spent helping other producers release music, the pair renewed their focus on Heist’s own recordings. In 2025, he described drawing on a substantial store of studio material for a series of Co-Lab EPs.
