Jrace & Albert White and Lexed use contrast as the defining feature of their new two-track release on Exert. Released on 18 September, Do You Miss Her and The Acid move between vocal-led dancefloor drum and bass and a much darker club sound without forcing the two into the same mould.

Featuring British vocalist Ellen Lynch, Do You Miss Her opens with dreamy synths and restrained sub-bass. The balance gives Lynch’s clean, expressive vocal the space it needs, establishing the track’s reflective mood before the production begins to gather momentum.

The drop introduces a brighter surge of energy, but a false drop delays the full release. When it arrives, a broad saw bass cuts through the mix while chopped fragments of Lynch’s vocal flicker across it. That transition preserves the emotion of the opening rather than abandoning it for impact, giving the track a nostalgic dancefloor character with enough scale for a larger system.

The Acid makes an immediate change in atmosphere. Its opening arpeggio carries the unmistakable energy of early-2000s electronic music, with the sort of dark, propulsive tone that would not sound out of place on the Blade soundtrack. From there, the track drops into a restless neuro playground, where buzzing bass textures sit against deeper cuts in the low end.

A descending saw moves through the scale with an almost siren-like quality, keeping the track in a state of agitation. The production periodically withdraws into the heavily filtered opening arpeggio, giving the arrangement movement and preventing its aggression from becoming flat or predictable.

The release follows Jrace & Albert White and Lexed’s previous collaboration, Flames, but its strongest quality is how clearly these two tracks define separate purposes. Do You Miss Her makes its impact through melody, vocal space, and delayed release; The Acid is harsher, faster, and built around sustained tension. Together, they show a collaboration comfortable operating at opposite ends of the dancefloor.
