9THWAVE is the stage name of Alexander Aubakirov, a drum and bass producer whose musical journey began at school, playing bass guitar in a band. His interest in electronic music took hold in 2010, when he first opened a DAW, inspired by Skrillex and the wider world of drum and bass.
With work and family taking priority, music initially took a back seat. Alexander returned to production during the pandemic, spending time exploring different genres and techniques before focusing fully on drum and bass from 2022 onwards.
Since then, 9THWAVE has appeared on various-artist compilations and released EPs through Paperfunk Recordings, Stonx Music, Abducted LTD and Dialect Audio. Drawing inspiration from artists including Merikan, Pythius, BurrOak, IHR, Sinister Souls and Finalfix, he continues to make music with one simple aim: tracks that make it impossible not to nod your head.
