Alora is the Dutch partnership of Maddie Goossens, also known as Madster, and NOX organiser Twan Koning. The two had known each other through small events in Eindhoven before reconnecting when Madster became a resident at NOX. Their collaboration began as an experiment in making more melodic, accessible drum and bass together.
Goossens brought production experience and an interest in darker music; Koning contributed melodic ideas, sketches, and an outside ear. Rather than leaving all the writing to one member, both generated starting points individually before meeting to combine and develop them. That exchange gave the project a different identity from Madster’s solo work.
Their first track, ID, reached Andy C’s sets before appearing on ProgRAM 100 in 2019. On You followed through Rampage Recordings in February 2020, with Without You following later that year.
