Ben Soundscape is a Bristol producer whose music and club nights have grown together. As one half of The Insiders, he built a catalogue of deep liquid funk; his solo work carries that musical foundation into releases for Dispatch Recordings, V Recordings, Innerground Records and Sofa Sound Bristol.
He started Intrigue in 2003 with fellow Insider Joe Wills, drawing inspiration from Fabio’s Swerve nights. Intrigue Music followed in 2009, giving the parties a recorded counterpart. The events became a regular meeting place for soulful D&B in Bristol, while the label gave Ben and other producers space to develop their music.
His work with Collette Warren connects the records to years of performing together. Their Last Drop EP, released in 2024, turned the experiences of late nights, touring and afterparties into four new tracks. Remember You paid tribute to friends and figures they had lost, including Randall, pairing that sentiment with a big bassline and an Amen break.
The title track was finished after returning from a techno night, in a studio session that ran from the small hours into the morning. It is an apt origin for a song about the party carrying on. Across those collaborations and his solo catalogue, the musical detail stays connected to what happens in a room full of dancers.
