Blue Marble is Belgian producer Matthias De Herdt, whose melodic drum and bass draws on a fascination with space and science fiction. Before recording under this name, he made music as part of Station Earth, the project he shared with DJ Jelle De Maeyer.
That earlier partnership introduced listeners to records such as Cold Green Eyes. Blue Marble continued the production side under a new name, keeping the sense of scale and melody that had connected Station Earth with Liquicity’s audience. The two names belong to different chapters, rather than two interchangeable descriptions of the same duo.
His Liquicity catalogue includes Let You Go and Sanity, the latter featuring Josh Roa. The label’s artist page points listeners towards his Blue Marble accounts, while his own SoundCloud also directs them to Marble Recordings. Those connections help keep the solo releases distinct from the older Station Earth records.
Away from the studio, he has named skateboarding and video-making among his interests. Space documentaries and science-fiction films are musical inspiration, too: a fitting background for a producer whose artist names have always looked a little further than the nearest dancefloor.
