Bredren are three friends from Brussels who found their way into drum and bass through dubstep. Dieter, Sebastien, and Adrien began the project in 2011, while Sebastien and Adrien were also making music as Requake. Their D&B soon developed its own identity: deep bass, tightly controlled drums, and enough space for small details to make a big difference.
An early demo passed to Basher led to Pulsar on Proximity Recordings, the label that also released their debut album, Trinity, in 2014. Releases with Demand Records, Flexout Audio, and 1985 Music followed, bringing their sound into different corners of the underground.
The trio work together on ideas, with Sebastien handling much of the technical detail and Dieter and Adrien taking the lead behind the decks. Their music can move from sparse rollers to halftime: the contrast between Backlash and The Sewers captures that range, while Primo keeps their emphasis on weight and groove.
Back home, Bredren Invites has brought artists including Lenzman, S.P.Y, and Alix Perez to Brussels. Producing records and putting on parties have grown together, with the dancefloor giving the trio a direct connection to the music they make.
