Dawn Wall Drum and Bass Artist Image

Dawn Wall emerged on Integral Records in 2015 with the You Remember EP. The project kept the people behind the name out of its public presentation, leaving the records themselves to establish an identity. The debut paired Simple Mind with You Remember, If I Smiled, and the digital-exclusive Saigon Blaze. Integral described the music in terms of liquid drum and bass, soulful melody, and a connection to earlier soul-infused records.

The early releases also established that Dawn Wall's music could take several forms. Longshanks followed later in 2015, bringing together Spears, Round Table, the title track, and Lose Face. Reviewing it for Resident Advisor, Andrew Ryce singled out the contrast between the smoother tracks and the darker Round Table. The release kept that contrast within one EP, moving between the romantic character of Spears and the more forceful basslines of Round Table.

Integral's founders, Artificial Intelligence, later discussed Ember as a step forward for the project's sound. In their interview with UKF, they explained that its release had reflected the direction they wanted to introduce at that point. They also described Marcus Intalex as someone close to the Dawn Wall and Mohican Sun projects who supported them behind the scenes. That connection to Integral is documented through both the records and the people releasing them, while Dawn Wall's public-facing identity remains centred on the music.
