Dom & Roland is one producer: Dominic Angas. The second half of the name refers to the Roland S-760 sampler that became part of his early setup, rather than another member of a duo. His drum and bass career connects releases on Moving Shadow with his own Dom & Roland Productions imprint.
Hardware gave him a practical starting point for developing a recognisable sound. In a Loopcloud interview, Angas described learning through equipment, experiments, and the sounds around him. His approach placed emotional effect and the interaction of drums and bass ahead of technical complexity for its own sake.
His earlier catalogue helped define the darker, industrial side of drum and bass. During a direct Dogs on Acid question-and-answer session, he discussed productions from the techstep era, including Quadrant 6 / Concrete Shoes and Skylab. Those collaborations form a specific part of his history, with their own credits and contexts.
Later album work and the freedom of running his own label gave him room to explore that production language further. His authorised catalogue also includes a substantial Metalheadz connection. For listeners, the through-line is careful sound construction used to create atmosphere and movement, with different records showing different balances between pressure, melody, and space.
