FD’s music grew from London pirate radio and the city’s rave scene, carrying a taste for soul, jazz and hip-hop into drum and bass. Now based in Zurich, he makes records that can be warm and reflective or rough around the edges, often finding their character in a few carefully chosen elements.
The North Quarter became an important home for that writing. Better Days arrived in 2019, followed by From The Ashes in 2025. The second album came after a difficult creative period, when trying to repeat the response to Double Drizzle made new tracks harder to finish. Writing What I Needed helped him stop chasing that earlier record and find a new direction.
The resulting album brings those different moods together. Fox appears on Trife Life, Minx adds singing and rapping to Sweet Self Destruction, and Lenzman joins him on Cold Neon. More stripped-back rollers sit beside the vocal songs, with even the heavier tracks drawing on organic, jazz-inspired sounds.
His partnership with Satl as LIN gives their shared ideas another outlet, often beyond D&B. In Zurich, he has also helped run Hotbox nights, keeping the deeper side of the music present locally. Across the albums, collaborations and club work, the connection is a preference for records with feeling and room to breathe.
