Fred V & Grafix are an Exeter drum and bass partnership, bringing songwriting and live instrumentation into electronic production. After their amicable split in 2018, Fred V and Grafix developed separate careers, returning to a shared recording in 2026. Looking back on their work together, Fred placed the duo within a wave of liquid and dancefloor drum and bass, where melodic writing could retain its club energy.
Their debut album, Recognise, appeared on Hospital Records in 2014. Unrecognisable followed as a remix project, rather than a second studio album. The second original album, Oxygen, arrived in June 2016 and developed their work with voices and instruments, including a collaboration with Kele and songwriting contributions from Amy Pryce and Tudor.
In their UKF interview about Oxygen, the pair described how Fred focused on songwriting while Grafix brought engineering and guitar playing into the process. Their later decision to separate gave both musicians space to pursue individual directions after completing their album commitments. The duo recordings remain a distinct part of those histories, alongside their solo catalogues.
For Hospital's thirtieth anniversary in 2026, they completed Rain Is Falling. Fred explained to EDM Identity that it had been the last track they were working on before the split. Revisiting the sketch remotely allowed them to bring eight years of individual development into an unfinished piece of their shared past. Its release marks a renewed collaboration, without establishing that every aspect of the former duo's activity has resumed.
