Killbox is the drum and bass partnership of Ed Rush and Audio. They already knew each other's music through Virus Recordings before working together under the new name. A back-to-back set at Fabric helped turn that connection into a production project.
Their shared interest in heavy, detailed music found a home at RAM Records. The album Pleasure Palace appeared in 2018, followed by Divine Profits in 2021. The titles were connected: the second record developed the earlier project's interest in the relationship between power, money, and darker human behaviour.
For Divine Profits, the pair chose to release tracks gradually so each could have time to reach listeners. The approach suited records made for DJs as well as album listening. Tracks including Beaker, Epicentre, and Mutiny arrived before the full project, allowing its sound and visual identity to build over time.
The concepts did not replace the studio work behind them. Most tracks came from the two producers working together in person, with discussion and experimentation shaping the results. Audio's enthusiasm for monster films also fed into the project, including Rodan. Those interests give Killbox a personality beyond its members' separate careers: a collaboration in which forceful drum and bass, film imagery, and a shared sense of atmosphere all have a part to play.
