Lynx is a Portsmouth drum and bass producer whose catalogue is easier to recognise than to put in one box. Disco Dodo, released on Creative Source in 2007, introduced that character to a wide range of DJs, while his work with Kemo gave it another form through a close vocal partnership.
Their album The Raw Truth arrived on Soul:r in 2009. Lynx later released Devil’s In The Detail and established his own Detail Recordings, giving himself a place to develop music away from another label’s expectations.
I Am Lynx followed on Hospital Records in 2015. The album brought several periods of his writing together: Ghost Train, made with Marcus Intalex, and Born Game had begun years earlier, while Drop That, featuring Master X, explored a halftime approach. Lynx described the record to UKF as an overview of his sound.
In a later interview, he looked back honestly on the Hospital period, proud of the album but unsure the arrangement had suited either side. Releases subsequently appeared through Souped Up, Soul In Motion, and his own imprint. Detail remained a place where he could make those decisions himself, rather than turn the catalogue into a single prescribed style.
