Mediks grew from a Bristol studio partnership between Ross, Dan, and Rob. Making Nightmare together gave the three producers a reason to turn those sessions into a project, with Shimon’s Audioporn Records becoming the home for their early releases.
Their debut Outbreak EP arrived in April 2012. Nightmare sits alongside Outbreak, Doomsday, and Blown Away, the latter featuring Astronaut. The four tracks introduced the name through a full EP rather than a lone single, showing how the trio could develop several ideas from the same partnership.
Cannibals EP Part 1 followed in October 2013. KJ Sawka appeared on the title track, while Don’t Let Go featured Sarah Watson. Those collaborations added different voices and playing styles to the production, alongside tracks such as Come Back Down.
The group also opened up its studio sounds through the Drum & Bass Surgery sample pack. Its authorised description traces Mediks back to that first shared session and emphasises their breaks, basslines, and synths. The medical theme was clearly part of the fun, but the underlying project was straightforward: three producers making energetic drum and bass together.
