Rowpieces is Robert Schmidbauer, a producer and DJ whose musical background takes in hip-hop, house, soul, funk, and jazz. His interest in collecting records runs through those styles, rather than stopping at drum and bass.
He began releasing soulful drum and bass through labels including Good Looking Records, V Records, Fokuz, and Jazzsticks. His work has also included A&R for Soul Bros. Records, which he co-ran.
He created Rowtown Records to release his own productions under his own control. Its catalogue includes Inspirations (The Very First Works), 25 Years Of Making Music, and Between Melancholy And Confidence, bringing early recordings and later work into the same outlet.
