Noise Souls has spent the past year releasing Sequence in public, one track at a time. By the time the album arrives, its 12 numbered pieces have already lived separate lives. The point of the full release is not to introduce them, but to put them back in the same room.
That gives Dirtbox Recordings’ Tape Pack Series a more interesting finish than a standard compilation of singles. Sequence Intro now has a reason to exist, and the run from Microbes through to Connected can finally be read as a sequence rather than a release calendar.
DnBUK is treating the final stretch in the same way. “Sequence V10 (Last Phase)” opened the three-day premiere run yesterday. Today, “Sequence V11 (Por Una Cabeza)” takes the spotlight, before Sequence V12 (Connected) closes it tomorrow. It is a neat way to give the record one last sense of movement before the full LP becomes available.
The details around the project are unusually personal. Noise Souls’ route into music began in Buenos Aires, through family records, visual art, and early experiments on Music 2000, before later releases and a return under a new name. Sequence is not being sold as a sudden arrival. It is the end of a long, deliberate release cycle, and the first time its separate parts can properly be considered together.
The digital release is out now via Dirtbox Recordings, with vinyl and CD editions following on 11 September.
