ALB is Alex Brown, a drum and bass producer from Leicester whose music has grown from an interest in melodic liquid. He spent several years learning production before his records began reaching a wider audience, taking ideas from the artists he listened to while developing a sound of his own.
In 2017, Into The Blue, made with Colossus and vocalist Anastasia, appeared through Liquicity. Further work included the Over You EP on Fokuz Recordings, released in 2019. These records helped connect him with listeners and labels beyond the tracks he had been making at home.
His relationship with RAM Records began after the label heard his music, leading to The One / Blame in 2020. Anastasia returned on The One, while the six-track Vintage EP gave him a larger release to develop. Speaking to RAM, Brown identified liquid as his own production focus, although his listening ranged more widely across drum and bass.
DJing developed alongside the studio work. After learning on a controller and then practising on CDJs, he played his first show at a Liquicity event at Electric Brixton in 2018. That experience put him on the other side of the music he had been hearing and making, adding a direct connection with the audience to an already growing recording catalogue.
