Brian Brainstorm is a Cologne jungle and drum and bass producer whose music combines 1990s jungle references and ragga vocals with contemporary production. His releases have appeared on Liondub International, Serial Killaz, Jungle Cakes, and Technique Recordings, while his DJ mixes move between jungle and jump-up.
His connection to Cologne also runs through its dancefloors. He became a resident at the city’s Bassliebe events in 2011, after beginning to produce drum and bass the previous year. Early UK releases followed in 2013, giving his productions an outlet beyond the local circuit.
The Lighta EP, released by Liondub International in 2024, brought several different vocal approaches into that framework. Daddy Freddy features on Champion Sound, Brother Charity on Rebels With A Cause, and Yemi Bolatiwa on Off My Mind, alongside two instrumental cuts. The EP’s credits identify its writer and producer as Jonas Simon.
