DJ Hybrid makes jungle, but jungle is only part of the story. The Coventry-born producer has long worked with harder dancefloor drum and bass too, a range that helped him build two labels: Deep In The Jungle and Audio Addict Records.
Both began as outlets for his own music before growing into homes for other artists. That development made finding and supporting producers part of his everyday work, alongside writing tracks, DJing and helping people understand the practical business of releasing records. His catalogue also reaches labels including Born On Road and Jungle Cakes.
His third album, Diary Of A Junglist, arrived on Liondub International in 2021. It was the first he had released outside his own labels, and the collaboration with Liondub brought access to vocalists he had wanted to work with. Navigator, Rider Shafique, Foxy and Diligent Fingers helped give the record a strong vocal presence across its different styles.
The original idea was a history of jungle, but several years of writing turned it into something more personal. Hybrid let the tracks reflect the sounds he enjoyed rather than forcing them into a historical outline. His official remix of Baby D’s Let Me Be Your Fantasy, made with Dope Ammo, offers another meeting of rave history and his own production.
