Dr S Gachet is a British DJ and producer whose jungle career is closely connected with AWOL. His musical background began with reggae soundsystems before acid house and breakbeat took him into a different club world, where his sets became part of the all-night AWOL experience.
In a Drum&BassArena interview, he recalled one night when other DJs had bookings at World Dance and he ended up playing for eight hours. It is a striking picture of the stamina behind those nights, and of a DJ trusted to keep the room moving long after a normal set would have finished.
His best-known production, Remember the Roller, later received versions from Bladerunner and Heist. Those remixes brought other producers’ approaches to an existing record; the title alone does not describe every part of Gachet’s own production style.
Audio Maze Records also became an outlet for his return to releasing music, including the Original Riddim EP by Precise. Recovering earlier recordings meant searching through old DAT tapes, while some sampler disks had deteriorated beyond use. The relaunch brought that studio history alongside newer releases, with jungle remaining a clear part of his recordings and DJ repertoire.
