Gridlok is Ryan Powell, an American drum and bass producer whose own Project 51 became a home for records and collaborations alongside his work for other labels. His catalogue connects West Coast partnerships with producers such as Hive to later albums and the technical drum and bass of Project Trendkill.
He established Project 51 in 2003. Work with Hive, Keaton, and Echo formed part of Welcome to Violence, while Standing Room Only brought him together with Hive, dBridge, Break, and Silent Witness. Those partnerships are a substantial part of his recording history, rather than occasional names around a solo catalogue.
His own album Void followed in 2009. In 2013, he joined Prolix for Project Trendkill, an eight-track release including Riot, Revenge, Snowed In, and Nightcrawler. Gridlok’s artist-run catalogue identifies its neurofunk and techstep context, keeping the joint project available alongside his other records.
That archive also includes Black Matter, Dead Rabbits, and X X, which divides earlier work between an archive collection and lost files. For someone discovering Gridlok through one collaboration, it offers a wider view of the same producer: solo projects, shared studio work, and a label built to release both.
