Hedex is a drum and bass producer from Cambridge whose early releases and performances made him closely associated with jump-up. His connection with the stripped-back Belgian sound was strong enough for listeners to assume he came from Belgium. He was, however, part of a generation of British producers finding a particularly receptive audience there.
He began releasing music through Train Records before joining Dubz Audio. Alongside making records, he developed other projects, including the By The Producer sample-pack business. Speaking to UKF in 2019, he described building the service himself and wanting it to work properly from its first day, with Annix supplying the opening pack.
My Home Is The Rave, released in 2025, developed an idea already familiar from his shows and an earlier track. The album included collaborations with Maverick Sabre, Sullivan King, and Enter Shikari’s Rou Reynolds. Vocal performances and different musical directions gave him room to write beyond the demands of the biggest moment in a DJ set.
In the accompanying UKF interview, Hedex explained that jump-up had never been the only music he wanted to make. The album’s liquid and jungle-influenced passages sit alongside the harder records associated with his name. They broaden the picture without erasing the jump-up production that brought many listeners to him in the first place.
