Mazare is an Italian producer who brings rock and punk influences into drum and bass. Raised in a small town in north-east Italy, he has released music through Monstercat, Insomniac, and Ophelia, moving between melodic songwriting and heavier electronic production.
His first EP, Paracosm, arrived in 2021 after a period that changed his plans. European shows had begun to pick up at the end of 2019, then the pandemic stopped them. He turned that time towards writing, developing an EP whose music, collaborators, and artwork were meant to belong to the same world.
The artwork was part of his own contribution. A graphics tablet given to him by his family helped him return to drawing, and he made the covers for the project himself. The record gave him a chance to develop a longer story rather than treating every single as a separate idea.
His bootlegs grew from a more practical need: there were songs he wanted to play that did not fit a drum and bass set. Reworking them meant finding creative ways to separate sounds from the finished recordings, without the stems an official remix would normally provide. It was both useful DJ material and a way to sharpen his production.
