Riya is singer, songwriter, and DJ Laura Hill, whose voice has been part of drum and bass for nearly two decades. Her work with artists including Lenzman, Total Science, and Hybrid Minds sits alongside albums that give her own writing a larger space.
Her debut, Sublimation, appeared in 2015. Two Sides of Everything, made with Collette Warren, followed through their Carnelian Music imprint with support from the PRS Foundation’s Women Make Music fund. The partnership put the vocalists at the centre of the project, bringing different producers into the songs they wanted to tell.
Her third studio album, This Is Riyality, arrived on V Recordings in July 2026. Written over several years, it follows personal change, loss, friendship, and new beginnings. Contributors include Etherwood, Bladerunner, Zero T, and L-Side, with DRS and Collette among the other voices.
The music moves between soulful liquid and heavier rollers, held together by Riya’s songwriting rather than one producer’s sound. She has said she hopes listeners will recognise their own lives in the songs. Alongside recording, her DJ and vocal sets bring that work back into clubs, making performance another part of the same musical life.
