Subtifuge is producer and DJ Dan Subtifuge, the founder of Totally Dubwise Recordings. His work spans reggae and jungle, with vocal records, remixes, and label releases all part of a catalogue built around soundsystem music.
His Ganja Dadda release featured Mr Williamz, with versions by Marcus Visionary and Jamie Bostron alongside the original. That distinction between a vocal collaboration and a subsequent remix runs through his work, which includes reworkings of music by Danny T and Parly B, Jungle Alliance, and Ted Ganung.
Totally Dubwise also gave him room to develop the visual side of the records. He has designed artwork influenced by reggae sleeves from the 1970s and 1980s, connecting the music with the images and typography of the records behind it. The label’s releases and merchandise carry that interest beyond an individual track.
His catalogue includes Bigga Headz with Khari Kill and recordings involving Dark Angel, while the partnership with Jamie Bostron continued on Chalice Ah Lick in 2025. Alongside those collaborations, Subtifuge’s own production and label work keep reggae songs and their jungle counterparts closely connected.
