Tantrum Desire is the drum and bass project of London producer and DJ Jay Faleye. It began as a partnership with DJ Devin Smith, whom Faleye met at a pirate radio station in 2004. Speaking to Flavour in 2011, Faleye described a shared enthusiasm for the music and a working relationship that had continued through their early DJ bookings. Faleye subsequently continued under the Tantrum Desire name as a solo artist.
Early recordings included Dreamscape on Heavyweight Records, before Tantrum Desire joined Technique Recordings in 2007. Reach, released in 2011, brought a vocal focus to that catalogue. Faleye described it as a dancefloor and radio-friendly record that retained his usual production elements, and the release also included a dubstep version. That willingness to reshape a track across tempos became part of the project's recorded output rather than simply its DJ selection.
The debut album Diversified followed in 2015, including Oblivion with SOLAH. It gave the project a longer format after its sequence of singles and EPs. Subsequent releases have continued across Technique and UKF: Cluster arrived on UKF in 2024, while the artist's own catalogue includes Don't Look Back. Dancefloor drum and bass remains an explicitly documented part of that work, alongside the jump-up and melodic styles described by his booking agency.
