Cyantific is the drum and bass project of Jon Stanley, a producer whose work combines detailed electronic production with a strong sense of movement. The 2006 album Ghetto Blaster on Hospital Records established an enduring part of that catalogue. Its title track and Flashback remain important reference points, connecting melodic ideas with rhythms designed to hold their own in a DJ set.
Bloodline, released through Viper Recordings in 2018, developed over several years. Stanley told UKF that singles had been written with the album in mind, with Colour in the Shadows among the earliest material to make the final selection. The process involved deciding how separate tracks would belong together, followed by the less visible work of finishing and mixing them.
A move to South East Asia gave Stanley more distance from the industry and a different perspective on making music. In a 2026 UKF interview, he explained that his quieter period as Cyantific had included work under Apparition, an alias centred on samples and a more personal, Burial-influenced sound. Cyantific, by contrast, remained rooted in synthesis and careful sound design.
That renewed activity included So Real, made to fill a gap he heard in his own sets for instrumental dancefloor material. He also returned to Ghetto Blaster with his own remix for Hospital’s thirtieth anniversary. Revisiting the original meant recovering samples and rethinking the relationship between bass and melody, bringing an earlier record into his present production approach.
