Matrix & Futurebound Drum and Bass Artist Image

Matrix & Futurebound are the drum and bass partnership of Jamie Quinn and Brendan Collins. Both had individual production careers before working together, and their shared catalogue brings song-led singles alongside deeper and heavier club material. Their debut was conceived between deeper liquid and heavier club records, a melodic meeting point that the pair discussed when looking back on Universal Truth.

Their debut album, Universal Truth, appeared in 2007 through Metro Recordings and Viper Recordings. The second, Mystery Machine, followed in April 2019. Its tracklist includes the Max Marshall collaboration Control and Got You There, sung by Zelah, while Hindsight steps into a different rhythmic setting. Those contrasts make the album a fuller introduction than the vocal singles alone.

Explaining Mystery Machine in Viper's release interview, the pair said they wanted an album to reveal a broader range of their music. Control remained important enough to their DJ sets to earn a place on the record, but they also wanted to explore ideas beyond the sound listeners already knew. Their later UKF interview returned to the relationship between solo and collaborative work, with each producer continuing to bring individual ideas into the partnership. The duo's albums therefore work as meeting points: they preserve the accessibility of the songs without losing the other music being made in their separate studios.
