Junk Mail is Stefan Anfield's solo drum and bass project, launched after his years as one half of Mind Vortex. With Laurie Carroll, Anfield had built a reputation on RAM Records for energetic tracks with prominent melodies. Junk Mail gave him a new name and the freedom to work on his own terms.
The project emerged in 2019 with Lock Stock. Its club focus continued through releases such as Yellow Jacket and Fire & Water, the latter featuring Marianna Ray. There is a recognisable connection to his earlier work, but the solo catalogue gives Anfield room to pursue ideas without the shared decisions of a duo.
For Blocklist, released by RAM in 2022, he teamed up with A.M.C. The collaboration brought together two producers with a clear interest in what a tune does in a DJ set. Heavy bass and sharply defined sections made it a natural fit for that setting.
His later releases through ROAM include Archive and Two In One. In a 2025 EDM Identity interview, he discussed the tracks that had shaped his relationship with drum and bass, linking the new project to a longer listening history. Junk Mail belongs to that history while continuing it: a producer with experience behind him, building a catalogue that carries his own name.
