Skeptical is Ashley Tindall, a drum and bass producer and DJ associated with detailed, economical arrangements. His records for Exit Records, Dispatch Recordings, and other independent labels established a catalogue that leaves space around its drums and bass.
His debut album, Enjoy This Trip, appeared on Exit in 2018 after four years of work alongside individual releases. It also made room for influences outside conventional drum and bass: its closing track, 'Violet', was named after his grandmother and drew on records from her collection.
In 2023 he launched his own label, Rubi Records, with Initiate. The imprint gave him control over another part of the creative process. He learned graphic design while preparing it, and has explained that he makes its artwork himself as well as supplying the music.
Rubi's catalogue continued with Capsize and the four-track Blimp EP EP. The label's releases extend beyond a single tempo, reflecting a producer who can retain attention to detail while changing the rhythmic setting. His music is firmly rooted in drum and bass, with room for other forms of electronic production.
