DJ Rap is Charissa Saverio, a producer, DJ, and vocalist whose recording history connects jungle with a wider interest in electronic songwriting. Records including Spiritual Aura belong to the early drum and bass story, while the 1999 album Learning Curve took her singing and production into a broader pop-electronic setting. Those directions are related parts of her work rather than competing descriptions of the same record.
Her label, Propa Talent, gave her an independent setting for releases. In a Kmag interview marking its twentieth anniversary in 2014, she discussed the importance of engineering and taking control of the work behind a record. The label also brought earlier material back into conversation with contemporary producers through new versions, with original recordings and remixes retaining separate credits.
A 2026 interview with Decoded returned to that question of independence. Saverio described building closer relationships with listeners after returning to the UK, while accepting the distribution, administration, and other responsibilities that come with running an artist-led business. Her Propa Legacy and Luv & Bass projects represented different perspectives on her catalogue: preserving the character of older records alongside writing modern jungle.
The same year brought a drum and bass version of Looking Through The Glass (DJ Rap Liquid DnB Remix), her collaboration with Sacha Robotti. Originally connected with a house setting, the song returned through her own liquid drum and bass remix on Dirtybird. Her vocal remained central to the music, giving the two versions a connection despite their different rhythms. It is a useful example of how her songwriting can travel between styles without losing the artist behind it.
