Whiney is a drum and bass producer and DJ from Coventry whose classical background sits alongside a fascination with MC culture. Years spent playing violin and piano preceded a catalogue that moves between melodic writing, darker club tracks, and beats built around a vocalist. His early partnership with Keeno brought the Sweetest Sin EP in 2012, followed by releases with Med School and Hospital Records.
The debut album Talisman arrived in 2017. Alongside the Urbandawn collaboration Sun Kissed and Whiney’s own singing on Never Too Long with Keeno, it included Flashlight with Inja. That track became an important step towards his later work with MCs. The album also stretches into halftime on Minds Collide, showing how much ground he could cover within a single project.
Whiney went on to produce Inja’s Smile & Wave album and develop his own Bubblers EP series. Speaking to UKF about working with P Money, he traced his interest in vocal production back to writing 140 BPM instrumentals and watching MCs perform while he was still a teenager. P Money contacted him after hearing Headlines with Subten, and their first session became Buss The Red.
Their joint album Streets, Love & Other Stuff followed in 2023, giving that exchange between grime writing and drum and bass production a full-length setting. The partnership continued with Crash ’N Burn in 2026, a collaboration with Fred V and Doktor that addresses burnout and everyday pressures.
