Slipz is a Nottingham drum and bass DJ and producer whose work runs between solo releases and the live vocal format of Basslayerz. His own archive documents sets with Spyda and Blu Bomma, including the BassLayerzLive recording filmed for JDZ Media.
A 2017 recording from the Basslayerz website launch party captures that approach in a different combination: Slipz goes back to back with Voltage, joined by Spyda, Bomma, and Bassman. The set was recorded at Nottingham’s Irish Centre, connecting the project to the city in which Slipz’s own account is based.
His studio partnerships are collected on Slipz And Friends EP for Low Down Deep Recordings. The six-track release includes Black And White with Amplify, Million Pints with Toxinate and MC Spyda, and Michelin Man with BlckHry. It also brings together work with Gaw, Kendrick, and Discrete, giving the EP a different collaborator on each track.
